LA County doesnt seem like it would be toooooo fun a place to live...

but goddamm if it doest always seem to be a super fun place to surf

What the State is saying...

"Trestles and its surrounding breaks have obviously had a big impact on surfing in California, which is why the Surfrider Foundation is pushing for the stretch of coastline from Uppers to San Onofre to be added to the National Register of Historic Places. Joining the registry would mean additional protection for the area against any detrimental change, be it a toll road or some other form of imposing development.

The county is against adding Trestles to the list, and the Chairman of the Orange County Board of Supervisors, John Moorlach, has been vocal in his opposition. “I’m having a tough time swallowing the request to make Trestles a member of this effort to preserve national treasures,” says Moorlach on his blog. “I’m a fan of the Surfrider Foundation, but my cynical side tells me the application is a cute move to avert a connection with the I-5 Freeway and the toll road system.”

What we're saying is...

hey...we're not going to act like living here for a month now gives us the insight to know what California knows is best. But shit...do you really need another freeway. Let the people have fun and explore and enjoy their natural resources...government...you've taken enough and Dorybeach will gladly do anything to help this treasure get preserved. 

its hard not to lose speed @ a fat backside point. Looks can be deceiving, and sometimes with your back turned its easy to get lost. Wilko seems to have no trouble getting to the top...and beyond!

It may not be the newest flashiest surf footage, 

but to see these peoples positivity and energy through tragedy, 

their perseverence is mesmerizing. 

Lets not forget today to be sure to keep our own heads up, 

but most important, 

maybe support somebody who needs it.

Road Trip/Hump Day

dont waste a day. If there isn't what you want dangling waiting for you out the front door

well than go find it. Inspired Tuesday night, Wednesday was an adventure. 

squalls on the horizon 

never one to be dissatisfied with a surf

the constant churning of the North Pacific left us wanting a little more than the swell thats been reaching home

even if it has been delicious coditions for golden hour around here in San Clemente

(Tuesday nights was particularly epic. )

so waking up early with the sun, the car got packed with as many boards as necassary and a suit for every condition

who knows were we'll end up

but we were out to find something

preperation.

found. open spaces

found. exactly what we were looking for. 

found. crowds that were way ahead of us. so we skipped this one

stay tuned for thoughts on surf traffic coming soon

returning home and running down to see the dribblers reaching in

the right decision was made.
